I am a Girl Who Started a Blog

I’m sitting here in my kitchen with only the sound of the washing machine in the background.  All three kids are at school, and my husband, who works from home, is OUT working for the day.  I am sitting here trying to introduce myself in this great big world of blogging.  It has been a work in progress for almost a year, and I keep putting it off!  Now, here I sit with no more excuses and no other reasons to put it off.  So, how do I introduce myself?

I could start by saying that I am a girl who married her high school sweetheart at the age of 19 and we have been married for almost 17 years and have three great kids!  I am the oldest of SEVEN children (my parents have 4 biological children and 3 adopted children, but I am still the oldest)!  I am a pastor’s kid and I married a pastor’s kid.  I am a nurse too, not just to my kiddos, but the kind who works in the hospital and sometimes feels like a glorified housekeeper!

I am also a girl who loves to laugh! A girl who loves spending time with her family and friends.  I am a girl who loves coffee.  A girl who hates laundry.  I am a girl who has a love/hate relationship with running!  A girl who, until a few months ago, never thought she would be writing stuff and putting it on the internet!  But here I am, writing stuff and putting it on the internet 🙂

My goal is to keep a record of my journey to choose joy; because everyday we are given a thousand reasons to choose anything but joy! We wake up with a headache, we get in fight with our spouse, we are constantly telling our kids the same things over and over, or we face huge mountains and we have no idea how we are gonna get around them.  And joy feels distant.  And happy feels miles away.

I am a girl who struggles.

I am a girl who is trying to learn that I can CHOOSE joy and this is my prayer….

Philippians 4:10-13 (MSG)

I’m glad in God, far happier than you would ever guess…Actually, I don’t have a sense of needing anything personally.  I’ve learned by now to be quite content whatever my circumstances.  I’m just as happy with little as with much, with much as with little.  I’ve found the recipe for being happy whether full or hungry, hands full or hands empty.  Whatever I have, wherever I am, I can make it through anything in the One who makes me who I am.

I am a girl who can Choose Happy!

    Love ya.

  2. Welcome to the blogosphere. I’m only a few months in, too. I’m sure you’ll be great and choosing joy is certainly something we need more of. Can’t wait to read more.
