It’s Friday! Yay!!!! The weekend is here and I don’t have to pack lunches for two straight days….sometimes it’s the little things that make a day brighter!
Friday also means that it’s She Shares Truth day!
For those of you who follow She Reads Truth, you know what I’m talking about. For those of you who don’t, you should immediately stop what you are doing and visit them (www.shereadstruth.com). She Reads Truth is an online devotional/blog/community of women committed to studying God’s Word and sharing with one another the truths that we discover. It has been such a blessing, and the ladies who put it together are amazing! Seriously, stop what you’re doing and join us!
Currently, we are doing a plan for Lent. Part of the study includes studying the same portion of scripture throughout the week and then sharing what we learn on Friday. This week it was Psalm 130, and all I can say is WOW! How great is His love for us!
Guys, I was raised on the Bible (pastor’s kid, remember)! Not to say that I didn’t get into my fair share of trouble, but that’s a story for another day! I know that His mercies are new every morning. I know His grace abounds to me. I know He never fails. But, sometimes there is a disconnect between the knowing and the believing.
While reading Psalm 130, which I read in several different translations (I love my YouVersion App). I couldn’t help but read verses 3- 4 in The Message over and over. Here is what it says; “If you, God kept a record of my wrongdoings, who would stand a chance? As it turns out, forgiveness is your habit and that’s why you’re worshipped.“
You guys, His habit?!! That means He does it without second thought. He does it ALL the time. He does it no matter how many times I ask! And I ask ALOT! Can you fathom how amazing that grace is?
I am totally undeserving of this. I fail, I need grace, and I find myself in constant need of new mercy, and He makes a HABIT out of giving it to me!
How would your world change if you not only accepted his forgiveness, but also made a habit out of it yourself? I can say for myself, that I am failing in this area. Off the top of my head I can think of several situations where I am not exactly making forgiveness my habit. Oh, I’m nice and I smile and I pretend everything is okay, but I am holding onto some things that really need to be let go. In the end it damages me and the relationship I have with the one who NEVER fails to forgive me.
So, my challenge for Lent is to develop a new habit. To me that means giving up some of the things I’ve held onto for a long time and embracing forgiveness in their place.

It seems we’ll be giving up the same thing for lent – unforgiveness. May God bless you in your freedom and may His habit become yours. I’m blessed to have found you at SRT and look forward to what God has planned for His daughters united.
I’m so incredibly thankful for His grace! At times I need to stop and remember that I AM forgiven. Puts in into a real perspective that forgiveness is a habit of His. Oh how I love Him!
